On the Facebook group, Matt relayed some of the information following the discussion on Friday. I thought I’d make a copy of that post here, just so that everything is in the same place.
- Write 300-500 words on something interesting under the umbrella theme ‘World Music in a Transnational Context’. Publish this to WordPress.
- Write <100 words on the topic: ‘Why is music important to you?’ Send this to Matt.

Six of us met in the lecture today and together we out-lined a pretty solid idea of what we’re going to do for this project. We’ve decided it’s best to run with what we’ve already laid the foundation for, so we will be sticking with the theme of world music in a transnational context and using the current wordpress site as our presentation page. There will be two things required of everyone:
Firstly, we each write an article between 300 and 500 words long on the wordpress page. This article should focus on a particular aspect of our theme, approaching the subject from a unique perspective. This is a very broad theme, and since the course itself encourages a number of different approaches depending on your degree, we shouldn’t have much trouble finding something to write about. Feel free to include images and videos which help illustrate your topic.
Secondly, we each write a short personal comment about what music means to us. Each comment should not exceed 100 words, and will make up our main article on wordpress. The aim of this exercise is to sum up as a group what makes music important. Feel free to treat this in a similar manner to the first task, in as much as it’d be great if everyone… See more … See more came up with something unique to add to the mix. Images might also be helpful here. Once this is written, please send it to me via my e-mail address (matt_full@hotmail.com) and once I have everyone’s comments, I’ll put them together into a single article which will form the introduction to the rest of our page. In order to ensure everything is done in time for the deadline, please make sure this gets to me by Wednesday at the latest.
IMPORTANT! If anyone is unsure about what’s been said above, please let us know. We all need to work together for this to be a success. It’s a shame we couldn’t have more people involved in the discussion today, but we don’t have enough time left to still be deciding on when and where everyone can meet up.
Here are Phil’s instructions again in case you still need to sign up for wordpress.
How this works is:
1) you sign up for a standard “just a username please!” account on wordpress.com
2) email me (phil989@gmail.com) with the email address you used to sign up
3) I’ll add you as an author to the blog, and you will then be able to create, edit and publish posts.
Also, a massive thanks to Phil and Laura for setting up the wordpress and facebook pages.

I’d just like to echo Matt’s comments about this being a group endeavor. Everyone gets the same mark based on the success of the project, so helping each other helps ourselves
